Old Sci-Fi Monsters

Old Sci-Fi monsters came in all shapes and sizes. There have been a countless number of them. And most were just as good as the Sci-Fi monsters we have today in our shows. Now, when most people think of old Sci-Fi, they think of the original Star Wars trilogy, or the Star Trek TV series. But I'm talking about the oldest. The ones that appeared in black and white films. You know, the time before color? And yes, there was such a time. Most old monsters are overlooked, and many have been left in the twentieth century by our twenty first century generation. The new generation prefers remakes, or the countless TV shows that are around today. Now, I won't be telling you about every single oldie out there, just one. It's my personal favorite: Godzilla. It's probably the best known, also.

Godzilla is really scary to me. I don't know why. Maybe it's the fact that they always film Godzilla movies in cities that I can recognize, or cities that seem very realistic. It also could be that Godzilla is a massive lizard that sometimes breathes fire, sometimes spits acid, sometimes lays eggs. I could go on. But there is something that seems absolutely harmless about Godzilla. There are 44 different versions of it. And I say "it" because there have been both male and female versions. It has been around for 60 years. And apparently, to celebrate it's 60th birthday, it's making a 45th version of itself. And yet, Godzilla is still true to it's heart: destroy major cities and wreak havoc upon millions of civilians and thousands of soldiers. And that is probably why I always have and always will love Godzilla. Thanks, Aidan.

The Asylum of the Daleks

WARNING: SPOILERS

The Asylum of the Daleks is a place that no one would want to be stuck in. It contains every nasty type of Dalek imaginable, except they're all turned off... for the moment. There are particles in the air that can animate anything that is or was living and turn it into a Dalek. 

Now, if you didn't know, a Dalek is one of the Doctor's greatest enemies. (The Doctor refers to Doctor Who). I remember the first time I ever saw a Dalek. At first I thought it was just a stupid, not scary, talking trashcan. As I watched the show, the Daleks kept showing up. It took until the Daleks fried every nerve in a person's body using something that looks like a whisk for me to be afraid of the Daleks. Later I found out the Daleks have weapons that look like plungers on them. These weapons can basically suck someones soul out. They also have grenades on them that take the form of dull studs on their shell. When released, these grenades will kill everything in about a 20-foot radius of the Dalek except for them and other Daleks. But for me, the most terrifying thing about a Dalek is its inability to reason. Daleks have no emotion but hate, and their only goal is to take over the universe and transform every living and intelligent life form into a Dalek. However, every plan has a flaw, and the Dalek's is no exception.

The Doctor's mission in the Asylum was to get to the heart of the planet, plant a planet-destroying bomb, and set the charge. The Asylum is where the Doctor first met Clara, his paradoxal new companion. She was in the form of Oswin, a pilot of a spacecraft which had crash landed on the Asylum in a crash that killed her crew, who the Doctor met in the beginning of the adventure in the form of Dalek skeletons! Oswin had actually been captured by the Asylum Daleks and turned into the most intelligent Dalek of all time. Eventually, she found out, and caused the entire Asylum to blow up without the Doctor ever planting the bomb. The Daleks were happy, and everyone else was still alive.

Trenzalore

Trenzalore is a terrifying world that is dominated by a massive and deteriorating version of the TARDIS, having grown out of control after the death of the Doctor. It is the graveyard of a battlefield. Worlds and species will battle there. It is the place where the Doctor's enemies come together.

But before the Doctor's enemies arrived, it was a quaint place with a town called Truth, where you cannot tell a lie. After they came, for about three hundred years, it was a battlefield. The inhabitants of truth were amazed by what the Doctor could do. He repaired the children's toys, and defended the town against the series of invaders that attempted to destroy it. But as the years progressed, an all out war would start. The town of Truth would become a desolate war zone.

Doctor Who Enemies

 Doctor Who is best known for his terrifying enemies. He has experienced everything from robotic machines that look a bit like trash cans to statues of angels that can kill you if you blink. And very nearly every species and alien that he has encountered can either kill you or instill fear into the very depths of your soul and mind. The universe of Doctor Who truly is a deadly place.

One of the Doctors worst enemies are the Daleks. The Daleks are genetically engineered to kill. They are equipped with a full suit of armor that looks suspiciously like a trashcan with shiny points and equipment that can plunge a toilet while whisking eggs you.

These colored Daleks are called New Paradigm Daleks. They are made from a string of original Dalek DNA. The Daleks in this picture in order are: Drone Dalek, Scientist Dalek, Supreme Dalek, Strategist Dalek, and Eternal Dalek. The New Paradigm Daleks are extremely advanced. They created an empire soon after an encounter with the Doctor.

Another terrifying enemy of the Doctor are the Cybermen. The Cybermen are exactly what they sound like: living entities placed in a metallic body that was a walking computer. 

The Cybermen's goal is to turn every human being into a lifeless electronic Cybermen. There have been several battles in between Cybermen and Daleks. Most of them nearly wiped out mankind.

One of the most terrifying enemies of the Doctor are the Weeping Angels. The Weeping Angels are made of statues. They are actually beings that take over the bodies of statues. A Weeping Angel will kill you or send you back in time by touching you when no one is looking at them. They move extremely fast. P.S: DON'T BLINK!!!

There are many other enemies of the Doctor, but these are the big three. And next time you're walking by a statue, please don't blink. Thanks, Aidan.

Doctor Who

Time in sci-fi is normally a very ordinary thing. It isn't explored by very many sci-fi shows. But there is one show that is known around the world. That show is Doctor Who. Doctor Who is a show about a man who travels time, but he is from a species known as the time lords. The main character in the show Doctor Who is the Doctor.

 There are 11 known lives of the Doctor, and there are several possible unknown lives of the Doctor. The current version of the Doctor is played by Matt Smith. The Doctor is known for several things.

First of all is his sonic screwdriver. It is amazing! It can open doors, do complicated equations, run programs, analyze things, and even manipulate electronics. If you just glance at it, you might mistake it for a pen.

Another thing that he's known for is the TARDIS. TARDIS stands for Time And Relative Dimensions In Space. It takes the form of a blue police public call box permanently, due to a broken chameleon circuit. The TARDIS makes a sound like no other sound. The iconic sound is simply the Doctor leaving the brakes on through his journeys through space and time. There are two other things that the Doctor is well known for; his companions and his enemies.

The Doctor has had 29 companions since the launch of the show in 1963. The most recent companion on the show is Clara. Some of the more recent companions are; Rose, Donna, Amy, Rory, Riversong, and Clara.

But the thing that the Doctor is known for the best are his enemies. There are the Daleks, creatures that live in metal armor and kill ruthlessly in order to gain a world. There are the Cybermen, robots that were once people. There are the Weeping Angels, statues of angels that come alive and try to kill you when you're not looking.
