Doctor Who Enemies

Doctor Who is best known for his terrifying enemies. He has experienced everything from robotic machines that look a bit like trash cans to statues of angels that can kill you if you blink. And very nearly every species and alien that he has encountered can either kill you or instill fear into the very depths of your soul and mind. The universe of Doctor Who truly is a deadly place.

One of the Doctors worst enemies are the Daleks. The Daleks are genetically engineered to kill. They are equipped with a full suit of armor that looks suspiciously like a trashcan with shiny points and equipment that can plunge a toilet while whisking eggs you.
These colored Daleks are called New Paradigm Daleks. They are made from a string of original Dalek DNA. The Daleks in this picture in order are: Drone Dalek, Scientist Dalek, Supreme Dalek, Strategist Dalek, and Eternal Dalek. The New Paradigm Daleks are extremely advanced. They created an empire soon after an encounter with the Doctor.

Another terrifying enemy of the Doctor are the Cybermen. The Cybermen are exactly what they sound like: living entities placed in a metallic body that was a walking computer.
The Cybermen's goal is to turn every human being into a lifeless electronic Cybermen. There have been several battles in between Cybermen and Daleks. Most of them nearly wiped out mankind.
One of the most terrifying enemies of the Doctor are the Weeping Angels. The Weeping Angels are made of statues. They are actually beings that take over the bodies of statues. A Weeping Angel will kill you or send you back in time by touching you when no one is looking at them. They move extremely fast. P.S: DON'T BLINK!!!
There are many other enemies of the Doctor, but these are the big three. And next time you're walking by a statue, please don't blink. Thanks, Aidan.

Doctor Who

Time in sci-fi is normally a very ordinary thing. It isn't explored by very many sci-fi shows. But there is one show that is known around the world. That show is Doctor Who. Doctor Who is a show about a man who travels time, but he is from a species known as the time lords. The main character in the show Doctor Who is the Doctor.

There are 11 known lives of the Doctor, and there are several possible unknown lives of the Doctor. The current version of the Doctor is played by Matt Smith. The Doctor is known for several things.

First of all is his sonic screwdriver. It is amazing! It can open doors, do complicated equations, run programs, analyze things, and even manipulate electronics. If you just glance at it, you might mistake it for a pen.
Another thing that he's known for is the TARDIS. TARDIS stands for Time And Relative Dimensions In Space. It takes the form of a blue police public call box permanently, due to a broken chameleon circuit. The TARDIS makes a sound like no other sound. The iconic sound is simply the Doctor leaving the brakes on through his journeys through space and time. There are two other things that the Doctor is well known for; his companions and his enemies.
The Doctor has had 29 companions since the launch of the show in 1963. The most recent companion on the show is Clara. Some of the more recent companions are; Rose, Donna, Amy, Rory, Riversong, and Clara.

But the thing that the Doctor is known for the best are his enemies. There are the Daleks, creatures that live in metal armor and kill ruthlessly in order to gain a world. There are the Cybermen, robots that were once people. There are the Weeping Angels, statues of angels that come alive and try to kill you when you're not looking. There are many more enemies that the Doctor faces on his travels. Look for more information in a future post. You never know what he'll encounter next! To be continued. Thanks, Aidan.

Species in Star Wars

Star Wars has thousands of species. I clearly do not have enough space or time to talk about all of them. In this post I will only be talking about five of them. These are: the Toydarian, the Gungan, the Ewok, the Mon Calamari, and the Wookiee.

The Toydarians are considered corrupt and selfish beings. Toydarians are resistant to Force tricks and only crave money. They are from the planet Toydaria. They have a tendency to be merchants. One of said merchants is Watto, who lives on the planet Tatooine. Toydarians have humanoid shape, but their limbs are short in comparison to their bodies. They have weak legs, and prefer to hover around on their short wings. Instead of a nose, they have short, elephant like trunks.

Gungans are water-dwelling creatures who live in large colonies underwater. They can breathe both air and water, but they prefer air environments. Gungans live in the oceans of Naboo, and rarely leave their home planet, but some have been known to leave for journeys and adventures. One of these is Jar Jar Binks. Binks travels around with Obi Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Padme Amadala on their countless adventures.

Ewoks are short, furry humanoid creatures that have facial features resembling a bear. Ewoks reside in tribes on the planet Endor. Although Ewoks only have primitive technology, they are adequate fighters, and helped the Rebellion fight off the Galactic Empire during the Battle of Endor. The Ewoks strangely seemed to revere the translator droid C-3P0.

The Mon Calamari are an aquatic species, whose home planet is the planet Dac. Mon Calamari are very advanced. They have an unmistakable odor which smells of fish. They are good ship builders, and when protecting something that they believe in, they will defend it until they die.

Wookiees are tall humanoid creatures that somewhat resemble a cross in between a bear and a human. Wookies are covered in brown fur that is absolutely unmistakeable. On the Wookiees home planet, Kashyyyk, Wookiees live in a tribal manner, living high up in the treetops in tree houses. One of the few exceptions to this is the famous Wookiee Chewbacca. When provoked or threatened, Wookiees are extremely dangerous and very good at combat, but normally are extremely gentle. Wookiees fought for the Great Republic during the Clone Wars.

Weapons of Sci-Fi

Sci-Fi has many parts. Every universe has generics. But there are also weapons that are specific to a certain universe. For example, Star Trek has phasers and Star Wars has ion cannons. Many other weapons that I've heard of are: lightsabers, ray guns, laser rifles, laser pistol, proton bombs, plasma grenades, plasma cannon, and on and on and on. There are thousands of weapons from every imaginable realm and genre. You may know the ins and outs of a few, but I think that it's impossible to know them all. There are light cores, energy cores, circuit cores, explosion cores and many others. Some weapons are just like modified current day weapons. My personal favorite are the laser rifles. For more info, click in the links above. If you'd like, you can tell me in the comments about your favorite. Thanks, Aidan.

Hyperdrives, Warp Engines, and Other Such Things

In almost every space travel story there is some sort of faster-than-light device. These devices allowed people and spaceships to move from one location to another quickly and with ease. Each has it's own properties and dilemmas, however. In Star Wars you simply enter coordinates into the system and the ship sends you hurtling through space to your destination. If the hyperdrive unit is damaged, however, you can't go anywhere that you couldn't with any old ship. In Star Trek there are warp engines which send you into an alternate realm of space and time before spitting you out into your desired location and time. But with warp speed time becomes strange and you can journey for months only to end up a second after the specified time in the exact place. Or you can go and travel for a couple of seconds only to end up years from your wanted time. Almost every space travel story has them and they all have their personalities and dysfunctions. With faster-than-light devices anything could happen. Everyone has their favorite device and everyone wishes they had one. Scientists have told us for years that they are close to a breakthrough in the field. Oddly enough I've never believed them and now less than ever. But you can decide for yourselves. Leave comments for your ideas. Thanks, Aidan.
